The National Library of Belarus has launched remote learning classes that will teach users about book culture.
We decided to introduce such a service in the library during the pandemic, when holding offline classes became problematic. The staff of the library began to consider possible options for adapting to the situation and transforming the lesson format.
“After interviewing users, we chose remote learning option. Together with colleagues from the research and design department we developed a special database”, comments librarian Tetyana Sapega.
The prototype of the service was tested on library users. As a result, we dramatically changed the concept.
“Initially, we were going to organize online classes, but users did not want to have ordinary lessons like we usually have in school. They were also not interested in the offered online readings. With the help of library users, we have developed new, interesting ideas for users: educational tests, creative tasks and contents”, adds Sapega.
The service has been provided by the National Library of Belarus since April 2020.
